FMCG major Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has partnered up with the State Government of Tamil Nadu for the launch of its cutting-edge manufacturing facility during the ongoing Global Investors Meet 2024 in Chennai.

The manufacturing unit is strategically located in the Chengalpattu District near the state capital, Chennai. The plant will aim to enhance the delivery time, optimise inventory management, and reduce overall costs.

Earlier in August 2023, the company had signed an MoU with the state government to set up this facility.

Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson of GCPL, said, “We aspire to develop this facility as a “lighthouse factory” where the best in sustainability, safety and automation is done with an inclusive and gender-balanced workforce. The government has generously given us incentives on our commitment to employ at least 50% of women and 5% of employees from the LGBTQI and people with disability communities.”

The digitally connected shop floor of the facility will integrate manufacturing technologies with IT advancements that will enhance efficiency and resource optimisation. The unit is anticipated to significantly contribute to the company’s production capabilities and overall production capacity.

MK Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, said that the company’s commitment towards the state is exemplary, not just through substantial investments and job creation but also through their strategic vision of choosing Tamil Nadu to pioneer new innovations.
