FM Sitharaman to Embark on US Visit to Attend Annual Fund-Bank Meeting

She stressed the significance of setting quarterly targets and ensuring their accomplishment within a stipulated timeframe.

In a statement, union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed that she would travel to the US on an official visit beginning 11 October to numerous crucial meetings.


Reportedly, during her visit, the Union Finance minister would attend the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), along with the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governor (FMCBG) meetings.


As per the reports, the Finance minister will also hold bilateral meetings with numerous countries, including South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan, New Zealand, Germany, Egypt, Australia, Mauritius, UAE, Iran, and the Netherlands. She would also engage in one-on-one meetings with heads and leaders of the OECD, European Commission, and the UNDP. And to discuss the issue of mutual interest, she would separately meet US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and David Malpass, president of the World Bank.


Also, at the Brookings Institution (a non-profit public policy organisation based in Washington), She will deliver a talk on the theme “India’s Economic Prospects and Role in the World Economy.”

During the visit to the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), John Hopkins University, Sitharaman will deliberate on the multiplier consequences formed in India through the interlinkages of ‘Governance, Finance, and Technology.’

In due course, the finance minister would attend round-table meetings with USISPF and USIBC on the subject matter to “Strengthen Investment and Innovation in India-US Corridor’ and “investing in India’s Digital Revolution.” These meetings would showcase India’s attractiveness as an investment destination and will have the participation of leading business leaders and investors.
