Flipkart Group has appointed Dan Bartlett, Walmart’s executive vice president of corporate affairs, to its board of directors, effective 21st November 2024.
Dan Bartlett, a public policy, sustainability, and corporate strategy veteran, leads corporate affairs at Walmart. He oversees public policy and sustainability programs and develops Walmart’s new headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Bartlett expressed excitement about joining Flipkart’s board, highlighting the company’s progress in enhancing accessibility and value for Indian consumers. He sees an opportunity for Flipkart to further contribute to sustainable growth and job creation.
Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy mentioned that Bartlett has been closely involved with Flipkart since Walmart’s investment in 2018. His expertise in building sustainable businesses will be valuable as Flipkart grows.
Lydia Jett, former managing partner at SoftBank, joined Flipkart’s board in June 2024.
Before Walmart, Bartlett held senior roles at public relations firms like Hill+Knowlton Strategies and Public Strategies, Inc. He also worked in public service, including key roles in George W. Bush’s campaigns and as a counsellor to President Bush at the White House.
Earlier this year, Flipkart closed a nearly $1-billion funding round, with Google investing $350 million and Walmart contributing $600 million in primary capital.
