On 20th January, world leaders, business magnates, and tech giants will gather at the US Capitol in Washington DC for Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. JD Vance will also take the oath as Vice President during the same ceremony.
Donald Trump has invited major world powers and US allies, including India, for his inauguration as the 47th US President on 20th January.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will represent India at the event, as announced by the Indian government.
Jaishankar will also meet key representatives of the incoming Trump administration and other visiting dignitaries during his trip.
Trump has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping, but he is expected to send an envoy, possibly Vice President Han Zheng or Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Other invited leaders include Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Javier Milei of Argentina, Nayib Bukele of El Salvador, and Viktor Orban of Hungary.
Invitations have also been sent to Jair Bolsonaro, the former Brazilian President, and French far-right politician Eric Zemmour.
Trump aims to showcase a global stage, emphasising dialogue with allies, competitors, and adversaries.
Given the presence of multiple heads of state, the event poses a significant security challenge for the US Secret Service.
Industry giants, including Boeing, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Apple CEO Tim Cook, have contributed heavily, helping the inaugural committee raise over 170 million dollars.
