In August 2022, JSW Steel said that its standalone crude steel production stood at 16.76 lakh tonnes, a growth of 22 per cent YoY. The company’s crude steel production was 13.77 lakh tonnes in the year 2021. Rolled hits were produced by 34 per cent to 12.01 lakh tones. In comparison, the production of long-rolled products improved by 25 per cent to 3.75 lakh tonnes with August 2022 over August 2021. In August 2022, the average capacity utilization was 87.4 per cent due to shortage, due to shortage of iron ore both in the Karnataka and Odisha regions.

JSW Group is a leading integrated steel company in India with a capacity of 28 MTPA in India and the USA, which include capacities under joint control. In Vijaynagar, Karnataka, the company’s manufacturing unit is India’s largest single-location steel-producing facility, with a 12 MTPA.
On a consolidated basis, the company’s net profit had slumped 85.81 per cent to Rs 838 crore in the first quarter of FY23 as against Rs 5,904 crore recorded in the first quarter of FY22. Also, revenue from operations has surged 31.78 per cent to Rs 38,086 crore in the first quarter of FY23. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the scrip shed 0.65 per cent of current trade.
