Chalo, an app that helps track buses across Indian cities, has acquired Shuttl, a premium bus service for office goers. The deal will offer Chalo to enter the premium bus service sector and expand abroad, its Co-founder and CEO Mohit Dubey said.

“All of Shuttl’s team will continue under their current roles,” Dubey said. Chalo had raised $40 million in a Series-C funding round led by Lightrock India and Filter Capital earlier this month. Together, Chalo and Shuttl have a presence in 33 cities, including Delhi NCR, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam.

“We have strong collaboration in our values and approach. Chalo and Shuttl were already the biggest brands in their space. They now perform over 25 million rides per month and aim for international extension along with growth in India,” Dubey said. Founded in 2014 by Dubey, Priya Singh Dubey, Dhruv Chopra, and Vinayak Bhavnani, Chalo had over 7 million downloads as of July 2021.
