Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasised the joint responsibility of the Centre and states in ensuring quality education that prepares future generations for national and global challenges.
At the National Science Day celebrations, ‘Vigyan Vaibhav – 2025,’ in Hyderabad, he highlighted the New Education Policy (NEP) as a transformative step, integrating fieldwork, practicals, and research into the system.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, Singh stressed that education should focus on developing concentration and critical thinking rather than just accumulating facts.
He underscored that education, as a concurrent subject under the Constitution, demands collective national efforts to guarantee that no child is left behind.
Singh also noted that National Science Day honours scientists and encourages youth to embrace science and innovation for national development.
Reflecting on India’s post-independence journey, he highlighted science as a key driver of economic growth, particularly in achieving self-sufficiency in agriculture and industry.
