Akshayakalpa Organic, a producer of organic dairy products based in Bengaluru, has raised $15 million (roughly Rs 117 crore) as part of a Series B funding round led by British International Investment, a development finance institution (DFI) in the UK, with participation from Rainmatter and Venture Dairy, a top executive told VCCircle.
According to Shashi Kumar, founder and CEO of Akshayakalpa Organic, the firm intends to use the additional cash to grow its direct distribution channel, enrol more retailers, and increase footprints across Kochi, Pune, Mumbai, and other southern regions.
Akshayakalpa Organic sells milk products devoid of antibiotics, artificial additives, and chemical pesticide residues. It was founded in 2010 by Kumar and GNS Reddy. By delivering organic milk and milk products through its direct delivery platform, 2000 retail locations, and e-commerce platforms, the firm promises to collaborate with 750 farmer families and reach over Rs 60,000 consumers daily. It currently employs 550 people in India.
