Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, co-founders of one of the world’s largest private charitable foundations, officially divorced on Monday, a court document showed. They filed for divorce on May 3 after 27 years of marriage but vouched to continue their charitable work together. They both said that they had agreed on how to divide their marital assets. None of the agreement’s details was disclosed in the final divorce order filed in King County Superior Court in Seattle.

The court did not issue money, property or spousal support decision in the divorce. It said the couple must follow the terms of the divorce contract. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has become one of the most potent and essential trusts in global public health by spending more than $50 billion to fight poverty and diseases. The Gates have supported massive programs like malaria and polio eradication, child nutrition and coronavirus vaccines. The foundation last year committed about $1.75 billion to Covid-19 relief.
