The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued guideline which says said fully vaccinated people are no longer required to wear masks on Thursday. The recommendation holds true for both indoors and outdoors, the CDC said.
After the announcement, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris said before reporters at the White House. “Today is a great day for America,” President Joe Biden addressed the new guidelines issued by CDC where he and his staff went without masks and said, “I think it’s a massive milestone and It was possible because we vaccinated so many Americans quickly,” he said.
“If you are fully vaccinated, you no longer need to wear a mask, But if you’ve not been vaccinated, or if you’ve been getting a two-shot vaccine and you’ve only had your first shot but not your second, or you haven’t waited the full two weeks after your second shot, you still need to wear a mask,” Biden said.
“We are seeing the results. Cases are down in many states. New York Times has reported that hospitalizations are the lowest. Deaths are also down 80 per cent and at their lowest level since April of 2020,” Biden added. “We’ve gotten this far, please protect yourself until we get to the goal,” President Biden said. Still, many Americans under 65 are not yet fully vaccinated. He said the government was not going to enforce the mask-wearing guidance on those not yet fully vaccinated.
