Bharti Airtel Q1 results: Net Profit Surges 466%; ARPU Increases to Rs 183

Bharti Airtel on Monday reported a 466% jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 1,607 crore for the June quarter of 2022. This can be primarily attributed to subscriber additions. The company reported a net profit of Rs 284 crore in the year-ago period.
Its consolidated revenue from operations increased 21% to Rs 32,805 crore in Q1FY23. It was Rs 27,064 crore in Q1FY22. Telecom major’s average revenue per user (ARPU) rose to Rs 183 in Q1FY23 compared to Rs 146 in Q1FY22. On the other hand, the ARPU of Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea for the same period was Rs 175.7 and Rs 128, respectively. The company’s mobile services revenue in India increased 27% year-on-year to Rs 18,220 crore for the quarter under review.
According to the company’s MD and CEO, Gopal Vittal, Airtel continues to deliver sustained growth at 4.5% sequentially. EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) margins are now at 50.6%.
The enterprise and home businesses are delivering solid double-digit growth and improving the diversity of the overall portfolio. Airtel’s strategy yields good results, with an industry-beating ARPU at Rs 183.
He further said that the company is well positioned to raise the bar on innovation as India gets ready to launch 5G. The company also aims to meet the emerging needs of customers looking for speed, coverage and latency. Recently, Airtel procured a 19,867.8 MHz spectrum for Rs 43,040 crore in the 5G spectrum.

The firm said its 4G customers grew by 20.8 million annually and by 4.5 million sequentially. Also, mobile data consumption grew by 16.6% YoY, and consumption per mobile data customer at 19.5 GB per month.
