On Saturday, Hinduja Group’s Truck and Bus Manufacturing subsidiary, Ashok Leyland, announced the launch of a new e-marketplace, ‘Re-AL’, which will aim at the used commercial vehicles segment. Customers can exchange and upgrade their current vehicle using the platform by purchasing a new Ashok Leyland truck or bus.
They aim to bring more transparency to the unorganized used vehicle ecosystem and provide customers with various features, including validated documents and the ability to choose their preferred vehicles.
In a statement, the President of Ashok Leyland, Sanjeev Kumar, emphasized the segment’s importance as a key focus area as it would enable customers to sell their vehicles at a higher resale value and could prove to be an essential sector for the company.
The marketplace will help customers upgrade to new Ashok Leyland trucks by exchanging their old used commercial vehicles. The marketplace would offer a range of features that customers can use to find vehicles. These features include evaluation reports using verified vehicle images and documents and options for sellers to list their vehicles easily.
Ashok Leyland, MD and CEO Shenu Agarwal stated that the used commercial vehicle industry is ripe for disruption. Leveraging its digital platform provides many opportunities to deliver customer-centric solutions. The company aims to offer a digital service that provides customers with various features to help them choose the vehicle they want and access verified documentation.
The company’s entry into the segment marks a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey. The e-marketplace is believed to be fruitful for the company by enhancing the overall customer experience.
Although inter-city travel has opened up, it has not yet returned to the previous volume level. However, the bus market has seen a sharp rebound in sales in FY23. Introducing this electronic marketplace will likely further boost the sale of new Ashok Leyland trucks and buses as customers can liquidate their vehicles with better resale value.
