After budget airline, IndiGo announced that the company will start charging for web check-in, which sparked a series of outrage on the social media, the airliner has issued a clarification saying they have not changed the web check-in practice.
They, in the statement released, said that if passengers do not want to pay for advance seat selection or does not have any particular preference for seats and they can either select any available free seat at the time of web check-in or at the airport kiosk check-in or counter.
IndiGo said in a statement, “This is to further clarify that IndiGo customers will not compulsorily have to pay for the seats. The pricing is only for the advance selection of seats. When the customer checks in at the airport, the seats would be assigned for free,”
IndiGo is charging as low as Rs 100 for the preferred seat which goes up to Rs 800. These charges are over and above the fare you pay while buying a ticket.
IndiGo on twitter was asked, “why there is no seat for web check-in free of cost? Most seats are free and still one week to go for the trip,” for which IndiGo replied, “As per our revised policy, all seats will be chargeable for web check-in. Alternatively, you may check-in at the airport for free. Seats will be assigned as per the availability.”
IndiGo had earlier tweeted saying that as per the company’s revised policy, “all seats will be chargeable for web check-in”.
