Apple Plans To Commence Productiom of iPhone 16 Pro in India

The renowned manufacturer Foxconn will handle the production of the Pro models.

Apple has announced plans to commence the production of iPhone 16 Pro models in India, marking a significant milestone for the company. The move aims to increase the availability of locally assembled Pro models in the country. Previously, only non-Pro models were produced locally, but now Apple is set to shift this trend by making the highly anticipated iPhone 16 Pro.

According to reports, Apple will begin manufacturing iPhone Pro models in India this fiscal year, starting with the flagship iPhone 16 Pro. The renowned manufacturer Foxconn will handle the production of the Pro models. This move aligns with Apple’s long-term local production strategy, marking a substantial step towards expanding its manufacturing capabilities in India.

Despite the shift towards local production, the prices of India-assembled iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to be at least those of imported models. However, this move indicates Apple’s commitment to the Indian market. Last year, Apple made the iPhone 15 units built in India available to Indian customers on the first day of global sales, setting a precedent for local production and availability.

Apple’s aim to ensure the availability of India-assembled iPhone 16 Pro models in the country immediately after the launch demonstrates its dedication to the Indian market. With the anticipation of high demand for the iPhone 16 series, Apple is gearing up by preparing 90 million units of iPhone 16 devices for 2024, representing a 10% increase over the iPhone 15 series.

Furthermore, in line with its increased focus on India’s manufacturing capabilities, Apple has set ambitious targets to produce a quarter of all its iPhones in India over the next 3-4 years, a substantial increase compared to the current 14%. This underscores Apple’s commitment to expanding its local production and manufacturing operations in India.

In addition to the iPhone production, reports suggest that Apple is also exploring the possibility of resuming iPad manufacturing in India through Foxconn and planning to initiate AirPods production in the country early next year. These initiatives align with the government’s efforts to attract more supply chains, showcasing a strategic and forward-looking approach by Apple to strengthening its presence in India.
