Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday greeted on the occasion of the International Literacy Day and said that the Narendra Modi government has been empowering children and working tirelessly for its mission of ‘Education for All’ by bringing reforms.

 The theme for the International Literacy Day 2020 has been kept in line with the threat of the global Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on ‘Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond’. The celebration is going to shed light on “the role of educators and changing pedagogies.” It highlights literacy learning on a lifelong learning perspective, and mainly focuses on the learning of youth and adults.

During lockdowns, most of the classes and lectures are being conducted online, making a difference that what the future holds in terms of the process of education is unknown. This year for the celebration of International Literacy Day, the UN is organising online seminars and talks and, meeting on ‘Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond: the role of educators and changing pedagogies’ and ‘The Laureates of the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes 2020’.
