The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Space Accelerator: India program is a result of the MoU agreement signed in 2023 by AWS with the Indian Space Research Organization, and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre.

It’s the first-ever space accelerator programme in the country which will be supporting 24 promising technology startups.

Twenty-four space tech startups have been selected for the 14-week program, aimed at providing technical expertise, AWS training, and mentoring. The startups operate in segments such as spacecraft propulsion, orbital and launch vehicles, satellite imagery, geospatial applications, weather analysis, and space tourism.

The startups will receive up to USD 100,000 in AWS credits and support to build and scale their solutions. The accelerator program is supported by T-Hub and Minfy, an AWS Premier Partner.

The program will help the startups explore how to leverage space data and build solutions using AWS technologies, including Generative Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and data analytics.

Clint Crosier, Director of the Aerospace and Satellite business at AWS, said “This is the first space accelerator program tied to a specific country, and we chose India due to the extraordinary growth opportunities in the space sector”.

The 24 shortlisted startups will present their solutions to leaders from AWS, T-Hub, Minfy, and the space sector at an event in July/August 2024.

Out of the 24 startups that made it to the shortlist, five are from Tamil Nadu, five are from Maharashtra, and four are from Karnataka. 

The 24 startups include Aero2Astro from Chennai, Agnihotri Aerospace from Mangaluru, Brahmaandco Spacetech from Mumbai, CoralComp from Hyderabad, Insight360.ai from Port Blair, and Cosmicport from Thoothukudi, etc.
