Airtel on Monday reported 29% year-on-year jump in its consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter of the last fiscal at Rs 107.2 crore, boosted by a one-time gain.
The nation’s second-largest telecom company said quarterly revenue from local mobile services was Rs 10,632 crore, up 4.3%. They added that the rise was helped by the effects of the minimum recharge plan, which had pushed up average revenue per user (ARPU) – a key performance parameter – and data consumption. Mobile services contributed around 70% of Airtel’s India revenue.
The Sunil Mittal-led telco reported net exceptional gain of Rs 2,022.1 crore in the fourth quarter that “comprises of (i) charge of Rs 145.5 crore towards operating costs on network refarming and upgradation program and (ii) credit of Rs 2,167.6 crore pertaining to reassessment of levies, based on a recent pronouncement related to the manner of determination of such levies”, the company said in a statement on Monday.
