On Wednesday, aerospace giant Airbus said it had awarded Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) a contract to manufacture “cargo doors and bulk doors” for the A320neo aircraft family.

It is worth noting that this contract is an important step to improve Airbus’ competitiveness in the single-aisle market and support the upgrade of the A320 programme. According to Airbus, TASL will produce the doors at its new factory in Hyderabad using cutting-edge robotics and automation.

Each shipset will include “two cargo doors” and “a bulk cargo door,” the aerospace professional said.

“Airbus is walking the talk regarding supporting the development of India’s industrial capabilities. The latest contract underlines our continued commitment to ‘Make in India’ for an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India),” Rémi Maillard, President and MD of Airbus India and South Asia, said in an official statement.

“We will continue to grow our industrial footprint and aerospace ecosystem in India rapidly,” he said.
