Under Tata’s ownership, Air India has entered into an intermodal interline agreement with WorldTicket, the exclusive distributor for Europe’s largest railway operator, Deutsche Bahn.
This collaboration enables Air India passengers to seamlessly travel on a single intermodal ticket beyond Frankfurt, connecting with train services to and from various cities and towns across Germany, including those lacking airports. Passengers also benefit from the same baggage allowance on the rail routes provided by Air India on its flights.
The agreement opens up access to over 5,600 train stations in Germany through the Deutsche Bahn network. Travellers can also utilise train connections to and from Amsterdam, Brussels, and Zurich via Air India’s Frankfurt gateway.
WorldTicket, an IATA travel partner with its airline FlexFlight (designator code W2), facilitates intermodal journeys on a single ticket.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer at Air India, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, addressing passengers’ needs and connecting Frankfurt to other German cities and towns.
This collaboration follows Air India’s recent intermodal partnership, extending access to a comprehensive network of rail and bus operators in the UK, Italy, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The airline’s efforts to enhance intermodal connectivity aim to provide travellers with convenient and integrated travel options, supporting a seamless and efficient travel experience.
