Air India Fined Rs 10 Lakh by DGCA for Non-Compliance

The DGCA had connected inspections at the Kochi, Bangalore, and Delhi Airports

Air India on 22 November was slapped with a fine of Rs 10 lakh by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The DGCA had connected inspections at the Kochi, Bangalore, and Delhi Airports for Scheduled Domestic Operators in May and September in an effort to ensure their adherence to obligations regarding its adherence to obligations regarding passenger facilities and compensation highlighted in DGCA regulations.

The inspection revealed that the company was not in compliance with the recent Civil Aviation Requirements. Later, a show cause notice was issued by DGCA to the company on 3 November, requesting it a response to the observed non-compliance with regulatory provisions.

After the DGCA reviewed the response, it determined that the airline had failed to adhere to Civil Aviation Requirements provisions, which included the absence of hotel accommodations for passengers who are affected by delayed flights, failure to compensate international business class passengers who are forced to travel in unserviceable seats, and inadequate training of some ground personnel according to Civil Aviation Requirements stipulations.

Following the findings, the company was imposed with a monetary penalty of Rs 10 lakh for its non-compliance with its regulations.
