On Monday, The Carlyle Group announced the appointment of Former Chief Executive of HDFC Bank, Aditya Puri as a senior advisor in Asia. Puri will advise the Carlyle team on investment opportunities across Asia, it said.
“Puri will provide guidance on the evolving market landscape and new investment opportunities, while also advising Carlyle’s investment professionals and portfolio management teams on building differentiated high quality businesses,” the global investment firm said in a statement.
Aditya Puri was appointed as the First Chief Executive Office of HDFC Bank, when it was established August, 1994. He in his 26-year tenure lead the business and grew the bank into the largest private sector bank in India and one of the most valuable bank in terms of market cap. Previously, Puri has spent over 20 years at Citibank overseeing bank’s activities across India, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and in mainland China, with lastly his role as CEO of Citibank’s operations in Malaysia from 1992-94.
