ABB India has secured an order from Reliance Life Science (RLS) to incorporate automation and control solutions for their new biosimilars and plasma proteins manufacturing facilities in its 160-acre plant located in Nashik, Maharashtra.

The company said in its regulatory filing, “The scope encompasses complete automation of the manufacturing process using ABB’s flagship Distributed Control System (DCS) Ability System 800xA, Remote I/O systems, Batch Recipe Management, and MES Integration.”

With the integration of ABB’s DCS operating with the latest Windows version, RLS will have a multitude of benefits that will allow for a reduction in the total cost of ownership.

The DCS solution will act as an integration platform that will facilitate real-time monitoring of various plant sections and optimise the maintenance process along with streamlined data communication, optimising hardware footprint, minimises wiring, and accelerating project execution.

Reliance Life Science Nashik facility is 160 acres and houses a manufacturing plant for a range of products, including biopharmaceuticals, plasma proteins, vaccines, and oncology pharmaceuticals. Given the strict adherence to regulatory guidelines and the intricate nature of large-scale biotechnology production, ABB’s System 800xA solution will prove critical in minimising production errors, ensuring consistent product quality, and otters seamless operator interaction and batch control.
