Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) on Wednesday launched another successful mission which carried 60 more Starlink satellites onboard on a Falcon 9 rocket into the low Earth orbit to join the rest satellites in beaming affordable Internet.
The successful mission of 60 more Starlink satellites was under the Elon Musk’s mission of affordable internet access across the globe. It was SpaceX’s 16th Starlink satellite mission and the company has to launch nearly 1,000 small satellites for its constellation. Along with this mission, it was a record-breaking seventh trip of reusable Falcon 9 rocket.
Recently, SpaceX presented the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Starlink internet performance tests which showed that it was capable to provide a downloading speed of 102- 103Mbps, while upload speed of 40.5- 42Mbps and a latency of 18- 19 milliseconds.
“Once these satellites reach their target position, we will be able to roll out a fairly wide public beta in the northern US and hopefully southern Canada,” tweeted CEO of SpaceX, Elon Musk. He added other countries are going to soon follow as SpaceX receives regulatory approval.
Starlink is planning for offering this Internet services for around $80 per month which is still priced at par if not lower than other similar speed broadband plans in most of the countries including India. SpaceX is also geared up for a public beta for the affordable satellite broadband services.
