MG Motor India, a subsidiary of Chinese automaker SAIC Motors, Thursday launched premium SUV Gloster priced between Rs 28.98 lakh- Rs 35.38 lakh (ex-showroom).
The company said the prices are introductory and valid till October 31, 2020 or for the first 2000 customers. The Gloster comes strapped with a diesel engine, is available in both 6&7 seater options and is equipped with autonomous level-1 features. With the Gloster, the company has introduced connected, autonomous, shared and electric (CASE) mobility solutions in the country. MG Motor India President Rajeev Chaba said the aim is now to democratise these new-age technologies. MG Motor India also sells internet SUV Hector and ZS EV in the country.
The company aims to sell 6,000 units of Gloster in the first year of launch. The premium SUV segment, which has vehicles priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 50 lakh, sees sales of 30,000-40,000 units annually.
MG Motor India plans to launch new models to sell 100,000 units annually by 2022. The company currently has pending orders for 8,000-9,000 vehicles and expects to close the ongoing calendar year with sales of around 30,000 units.
