Following the introduction of the new-gen Rolls-Royce Ghost, India also sees the launch of the carmaker’s long-wheelbase (LWB) version, christened the Ghost Extended. Starting at 7.95 crore (ex-showroom, India) before additional extras, the Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended is Rs 1 crore costlier than the standard-wheelbase model.
This Extended model follows with Rolls-Royce Clients possessing high demand from the new-gen, and also entrepreneurs preferring chauffeur-driven business models to suit weekends and even a dynamic self-driven saloon during weekends. 2021 will see the initial deliveries with its primary quarter. Rolls-Royce Ghost’s infrastructure comprises aluminium space frame architecture, underpinning its flagship model Phantom, and the primary SUV, Cullinan. Size extensions of the Rolls-Royce are made possible with flexibility and scalability in the platform. The total wheelbase length is 170mm longer, compared to the standard Ghost. LWB model stands at 5715 mm, with an increased wheelbase of 3465 mm, while the width of the car stays unaltered at 1978 mm.
Ghost now features reclining sites, titled Serenity Seat, like a business jet cabin. Additional features area Champagne fridge attached between the two rear seats, providing two cooling modes, chilling to 6 degrees and 11 degrees. Rolls-Royce discussed the optimum serving temperature for non-vintage Champagne being around 6-degrees centigrade and vintage Champagnes around 11 degrees centigrade. The chassis, bodywork and tyre components are incorporated with 100kg of acoustic damping materials. The features that have been carried over from the regular Ghost include – a Micro-Environment Purification System (MEPS), an air filtering system that comes with impurity detection sensors that keep a check on ambient air quality The Extended Model features laser headlights consisting over 600 meters of illuminated range. The 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 Ghost exclusive remains the same. The motor is tuned to produce 563 bhp and 850 Nm of torque.
Further, the car supports the all-wheel drive and steering followed by Rolls-Royce’s same self-levelling high-volume air suspension technology.
