On Monday, Prince Harry’s spokesman said that the Duke of Sussex had paid back 2.4 million pounds (nearly about $3.2 million) to British taxpayers’ fund, which is used for renovating his home at Windsor Castle. The paid amount is in the form of cash, considering that he had received from his recent Netflix deal.
Earlier this year, Prince Harry formally known as The Duke of Sussex and his wife, American actress Meghan Markle, retired from royal duties in a quest for ‘financial independence’. The couple said that they are giving back their taxpayer-funded income and promised to repay the public money used from British taxpayers’ fund for renovating their Frogmore House home.
“A contribution has been made to the Sovereign Grant by the Duke of Sussex”, said the spokesman and added that the money paid “fully covered” the renovation costs of the house, which belongs to Queen Elizabeth II, Harry’s grandmother and would remain his and the duchess’ UK residence.
According to Britain’s Domestic Press Association News Agency, the payment was made possible because of the deal signed by the couple with Netflix, last week and no figures were disclosed, but the deal is reported to be a multi-million dollar deal.
