Ahmedabad to Get Bullet Train Direct to Delhi


The Bullet train route shall cover a distance from Ahmedabad to Delhi shortly. The project is being implemented by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which after Mumbai is gathering tenders to incorporate the latest railway route till Delhi. The existing corridor of Ahmedabad-Mumbai is 508 km long, and the corridor leading to Delhi will be widened up to 886km in length.

NHSRCL spokesperson Sushma Gaur discussed this new corridor being the second HSR in Ahmedabad. The 886km route spans Delhi-Jaipur-Udaipur-Ahmedabad.

The project involves the preparation of the arrangement through bridges, canals, railways, rivers to expressways, national and state highways and major district roads and GADs of proposed stations.

Spokesperson Gaur added that the bids had been invited to carry out ridership study for the new corridor undergoing implementation, including the creation of DPR based on the latest gathered data by the NHRSL.

In terms of the bidding document, this project has to be finalized in the course of four months. Upon completion, the e-tendering process will be managed by the NHRSL.

On the other hand, NHRSL officials revealed that in Gujarat, 80% of the land had been acquired for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, along with a joint measurement survey up to 100%.

“A lot of preliminary works like shifting of electrical towers, water pipelines, oil wells, or other obstacles that were infringing upon the high-speed rail corridor have been carried out. We are now working on the Sabarmati hub”, said the official.

The integration of the Ahmedabad HSR corridor will be with the main railway line, so platform number 10, 11 and 12 have been dismantled at the Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad to pave waylaying of metro tracks on one side.
