Ladakh Border: India, China Continue Brigade Commander Talks to Settle Conflicts

India and China have scheduled a meeting between their brigade commanders, which is to be held at 10 AM in Chushul/Moldo to negotiate boiling concerns related to the situation on the southern bank of Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh.

During the night of Saturday and Sunday, the Chinese Army tried to transgress into Indian areas near the southern bank of Pangong Tso close to Chushul in Ladakh, which was prevented by the Indian Army.

Brigade commander level talks were held on Tuesday. Discussions were held on both sides for nearly six hours on Monday. There was, however, no firm outcome that arose from the talks.

Army spokesperson Colonel Aman Anand had said in a statement on Monday. “On the night of August 29/30, PLA troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo.”

The situation is currently agitated on the Line of Actual Control. India has stated that China once again indulged in “provocative action” and termed the PLA bid a reflection of “complete disregard” to bilateral understandings.

The presence of Indian army forces surrounding Pangong lake has since been fortified. Chief of Army Staff Gen MM Naravane also reportedly reviewed the overall situation in eastern Ladakh at a high-level meeting in the Army headquarters.

The sources said the Indian Air Force (IAF) has also been told to enhance its surveillance on increasing Chinese air activities along the LAC in eastern Ladakh.

China deploying J 20 long-range fighter jets among several other key assets, has been revealed by satellite images. The location is Hotan airbase which is around 310 km from eastern Ladakh.

Previous deployments by IAF over include Sukhoi 30 MKI, Jaguar and Mirage 2000 aircraft in the critical frontier air bases in eastern Ladakh and other places along the LAC.

After initial India-China confrontations since April due to conflicts in multiple border areas, negotiations have been held ever since but not had any outcomes yet.
