Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has appointed Sanjiv Singh, former chairman of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), as Group’s President and Senior team leader of the oil-to-chemicals (O2C) business.
Sanjiv will lead and drive Reliance’s manufacturing services which is considered to be the backbone of group’s oil-to-chemicals (O2C) business.Hital R Meswani, Ex-Director of RIL, in an organization announcement said, “As a member of the O2C leadership we look forward to Sanjiv Singh for his contribution in driving manufacturing excellence and transition towards making Reliance (O2C) a global leader in energy and materials.”
On 30 June, Singh superannuated from the services of IOCL and he has taken IOCL as a chairman back in June, 2017. Singh is a chemical engineer and have graduated from IIT-Roorkee with a diploma in management and then, in 1981 he joined the oil marketing company. He also headed refinery operations and played a vital role in setting up, commissioning and in the stabilization of IOCL’s two biggest greenfield refineries at Panipat and Paradip.
According to the Department of Public Enterprises, when a public sector official is retired from the rank of Chairman or Director, he/she is expected to follow a break-off of six month period before joining any other organisation, while Singh has only completed two months of superannuation. Along with that, Singh has also signed a bond that, he will not work with any company that had commercial relationship with his old organisation, for a period of one year without the permission of the Government of India, said a senior official of an oil marketing company.
