After the span of two years, HDFC Mutual Fund has surpassed ICICI Prudential MF to come out as the largest asset management company in the country. As of December 2018, assets under the management of HDFC MF stood at Rs 3.35 lakh crores whereas ICICI Prudential MF managed assets worth Rs 3.08 lakh crores.
The AUM or assets under management of HDFC MF grew by 9 per cent during the October-December quarter as compared to the previous three-month period. HDFC MF, which hailed the number one spot as the largest asset manager since October 2011 was dethroned by ICICI Prudential MF on March 2016.
AUM of ICICI Prudential MF during the period of October to December declined by 0.6 per cent. SBI MF held onto its position as the third largest company with AUM of Rs 2.64 lakh crores, followed by Aditya Birla Sun Life MF with an AUM of Rs 2.42 lakh crore and Reliance MF at Rs 2.36 lakh crore.
The overall asset base of the country’s Mutual Fund Industry during the December end quarter stood at Rs 23.61 lakh crore.
