Trucking activity in Prayagraj has surged by up to 40% in preparation for the Maha Kumbh festival. The Shriram Mobility Report forecasts a 30-40% rise in trucking activity leading up to the festival, which runs from 13th January to 26th February 2025.

Truck rentals have increased significantly, especially on the Delhi-NCR to Prayagraj route, with some transporters reporting a 73% rise due to the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Despite the surge, restrictions during the event until 26th February 2025 may slow down trucking demand, with steady rentals on major trunk routes and subdued fleet occupancy levels.

The Delhi to Prayagraj round-trip rental has jumped from Rs 22,000 to Rs 38,000 in just 20 days, though there’s no return load from Prayagraj, forcing trucks to go via Lucknow and Ayodhya.

The current Maha Kumbh Mela is generating five times more trucking activity than the 2013 event, with increased transportation of FMCG, produce, textiles, petroleum, and CNG for buses and trucks.
