Elon Musk has raised the prices of X’s top-tier subscription service (Premium+) by 35% for both new and existing users in India and globally.
Starting on 21st December 2024, Premium+ users in India will pay Rs 1,750 per month, a 35% increase from Rs 1,300. The annual fee rises to Rs 18,300, up from Rs 13,600.
This price hike is the largest since Elon Musk acquired the platform (formerly Twitter) in 2022. Basic and premium tiers in India remain unchanged at Rs 243 and Rs 650, respectively.
In the US, the Premium+ subscription rises to $22 per month from $16, with the annual fee increasing to $229 from $168.
Existing subscribers will pay the current rate until their next billing cycle, starting before 20th January 2025, after which the new prices apply.
Premium+ is now ad-free, offering benefits like priority support, access to new features such as Radar, and higher limits on Grok AI models.
The price increase allows X to improve Premium+ and invest in content quality and engagement, rewarding creators based on value rather than ad views.
