Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the North Eastern Council’s plenary session in Agartala on Saturday, joined by DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, governors, chief ministers of Northeastern states, and senior officials.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Agartala on Friday to chair the 72nd plenary North Eastern Council (NEC) session at Prajna Bhavan on Saturday, as per West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar.
During his visit, Shah will hold a bankers’ meeting to review financial inclusion, credit delivery, priority sector lending, and digital inclusion.
On Sunday, he will visit the Bru settlement camp at Bruhapara, marking his first visit since the historic 2018 Bru settlement agreement, and address a public meeting at Masuraipara in the Dhalai district.
The 2018 agreement resettled 32,876 Bru people from 5,407 families across 19 locations in Tripura with a Rs 661 crore special rehabilitation package from the Centre.
Shah will also address the national cooperative conference at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Sunday before departing the state.
Security has been tightened for the visit, with 2,000 Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans, 100 CRPF personnel, and enhanced BSF vigilance along the Indo-Bangla border, according to West Tripura SP Kiran Kumar.
