GMR Airports Gears up for Next Phase of Growth; Launches New Operations Centre

The APOC, set to serve as the airport's new operations control hub, utilizes cutting-edge technologies.

GMR Airports is gearing up for the next phase of airport expansion in India with the inauguration of its new Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC) at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on December 11.

The APOC, set to serve as the airport’s new operations control hub, utilizes cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to optimize operations and anticipate potential disruptions. It is the first airport in India to adopt such an advanced system.

“The APOC will act as a central hub of information for all stakeholders involved in airport operations, including airlines, ground handling teams, security personnel, and passengers,” stated SGK Kishore, Executive Director (South) and Chief Innovation Officer at GMR Airports, on December 11.

Kishore, who previously served as the CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), highlighted that the APOC will significantly contribute to the airport’s operational expansion. A similar facility is planned for Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, which is also operated by GMR Airports, in the coming months.

Ram Mohan Naidu, Aviation minister, said that the APOC system will improve the daily operations at the airport and will be replicated at other airports across the nation.
