Tech startup backed by Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Addverb Technologies, has announced its plans to launch advanced humanoid robots by 2025, which will position it to compete directly with Tesla in the growing humanoid robotics market. 

The Noida-based company will develop AI-powered humanoids that will be capable of performing complex tasks across industries that include retail, fashion, and energy sectors. This will mark India’s entry into the international humanoid robotics race, which is dominated by companies such as Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics, and Elon Musk’s Tesla. 

Sangeet Kumar, Co-Founder and CEO of Addverb, said, “Our foray into humanoid robotics is driven by our ambition to eliminate 3D’ jobs-those that are Dull, Dirty, and Dangerous.” 

Addverb tech is planning to leverage its strategic partnership with Reliance Industries by integrating Jio’s Ai platform and 5G services towards the development process. 

The humanoid robots will incorporate advanced GPU technology, energy-efficient actuators, and dual-arm capabilities, allowing them to navigate diverse terrains and execute complex tasks. Equipped with Visual and Language Action (VLA) technology, they will operate autonomously in dynamic environments.

While Tesla’s Optimus robots are projected to cost $20,000–$25,000, Addverb’s Kumar acknowledged the significant investment required to develop humanoids but expressed confidence in competing with global players, including subsidised Chinese manufacturers.

Currently serving major clients like Reliance, HUL, and PepsiCo, Addverb plans to build an ecosystem of downstream companies, replicating its success in India’s warehouse automation sector. This initiative supports the “Make in India” campaign, aims to increase India’s humanoid robot density, and promotes global adoption of this innovative technology.
