Swiggy Introduces ‘Seal’ Program to Enhance Food Hygiene Standards

Support will include dedicated account managers, reports, and educational webinars on hygiene best practices.

Swiggy has launched the ‘Seal’ program to enhance its restaurant partners’ hygiene and food quality standards. Currently live in Pune, the initiative will gradually expand in November to cover over 650 cities across India, according to a statement from Swiggy.

The ‘Seal’ program aims to improve restaurant hygiene practices by providing partners with insights and actionable support to ensure the delivery of hygienic, well-cooked food in high-quality packaging.

Since the program’s launch two weeks ago, restaurant partners have shown significant interest, with hundreds of requests for hygiene audits received.

If any concerns arise regarding a restaurant holding the Seal, Swiggy will thoroughly review the feedback and may revoke the badge if the restaurant does not meet the established standards.

Swiggy’s initiative will provide verified customer feedback to restaurant partners, focusing on contamination prevention, optimal cooking, and packaging quality to enhance hygiene practices.

Support will be offered through dedicated account managers, systematic reports, and educational webinars on hygiene best practices.

Deepak Maloo, head of customer and restaurant experience at Swiggy, emphasised the importance of access to clean, hygienic food alongside great taste, aiming to support restaurant partners with actionable insights through the Swiggy Seal.

Swiggy has partnered with FSSAI-accredited agencies like Eurofins and Equinox to offer professional hygiene audits to restaurants at exclusive rates, focusing on improving contamination prevention, food handling, and cleanliness.

This development aligns with Swiggy’s recent service expansions, including the launch of Swiggy Bolt, a 10-minute food delivery service in six cities, and the Swiggy XL EV fleet, which delivers bulk orders in Gurugram.

The company is also testing a premium membership program, Rare Club, with annual fees starting from Rs 50,000, targeting high-end consumers.
