Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Thursday 17 October announced that their Manesar facility has achieved a significant milestone of producing 1 core unit, achieving the fastest Suzuki plant globally to do so in just 18 years.
The milestone vehicle, a Brezza SUV, was rolled out on 6 October 2024. The Manesar facility, spread over 600 acres, manufactures models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Ciaz, serving both domestic and export markets. This accomplishment underscores Maruti’s role in the ‘Make in India’ initiative and its contribution to job creation in the auto industry.
The company’s annual production capacity is around 23.5 lakh units. Since its inception, the company has manufactured over 3.11 crore vehicles.
Hisashi Takeuchi, the MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, had said, “We aim to nearly double our capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum over the next 7-8 years, and this capacity addition of 100,000 vehicles per year is a step towards this goal. It will help us serve our customers faster and enhance our overall capability to manufacture up to 23.5 lakh units per annum.”
Earlier in August, the company sold 184,727 vehicles, which is higher from 181,343 units sold during the same month last year.
