Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to depart on a significant official visit to Mexico and the US from 17 October to 26 October, 2024. Enhancing bilateral commercial ties, positioning India as a global investment hub, and taking part in significant international economic debates are anticipated to be the main objectives of the visits.
India is aggressively working to fortify its economic relations with international allies and establish itself as a major player in the world financial scene at the time of this visit.
The finance minister is scheduled to travel to Guadalajara, Mexico, to lead an Indian delegation and preside over a Tech Leaders Roundtable that will include major tech companies from both Mexico and India.
Numerous international IT companies are based in Guadalajara, sometimes known as Mexico’s “Silicon Valley,” and Sitharaman’s involvements are anticipated to increase India’s visibility in the area’s IT sector.
She will also visit the city’s Tata Consultancy Services headquarters and meet with her counterpart from Mexico, H.E. Rogelio Ramirez de la O, to explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral economic collaboration.
Sitharaman is scheduled to give a keynote address at the India-Mexico Trade and Investment Summit in Mexico City, with an emphasis on strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
Business executives from both nations will be present at this event, which will highlight India’s policy priorities for drawing in foreign investment.
The Indian diaspora, a vital component of India’s soft diplomacy in Mexico, will be present in a community celebration that will mark the end of the visit.
After her commitments in Mexico, Sitharaman will travel to the US to attend the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C. She is also anticipated to participate in the 4th G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings and the G7-Africa Ministerial Roundtable.
These discussions are expected to include significant global economic issues such as post-pandemic recovery plans, sustainable development, and climate finance.
While in the city to promote investment opportunities in India, Sitharaman will speak with notable investors at the Pension Funds Roundtable of the New York Stock Exchange.
In addition, she will discuss India’s economic growth and growing impact on global finance with faculty and students at Columbia University and the Wharton School of Business.
