Hyring, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) startup based in Chennai, has introduced the ‘Hyring AI Screener,’ an automated interviewer that assesses candidates in real-time, replacing traditional HR roles. This tool aims to improve recruitment efficiency, especially in the manufacturing sector, and it plans to incorporate multilingual support and expand its reach.
Chennai-based AI recruitment startup Hyring has designed a groundbreaking AI interviewer that automates online interviews and functions as a recruiter. It conducts interviews, poses questions, records, evaluates, and scores candidates based on performance.
Known as the ‘Hyring AI Screener,’ this AI model has effectively eliminated the need for HR recruiters to participate actively in online interviews. The AI can also suggest the top four to five candidates for recruiters to consider for the next recruitment round.
“Existing AI software (models) are merely ‘passers’ as they scan resumes to look out for keywords and experience before it provides you insight over whether a candidate is suitable for a role or not,” explained Adithyan RK, Founder and CEO at Hyring, “What existing software does not do is interview a candidate or evaluate their performance on a LIVE video interview, our AI screener does that.”
Adithyan conceived the idea of developing an AI screener with “human-like AI” attributes during the COVID-19 pandemic when many companies encountered recruitment challenges. “I then realised that most HRs have trouble with the products they use to recruit,” he said.
While tech startups such as Sapia and Babblebot have created AI software for video interviews, Adithyan emphasises that Hyring’s key distinction lies in the AI’s ability to assess a candidate rather than solely recording an interview.
Although Hyring’s AI screener is suitable for any industry, it has gained significant traction in manufacturing, possibly due to its need for large-scale recruitment. Interestingly, a multilingual interview feature is being tested and is anticipated to be launched soon, highlighting the potential value the AI recruiter could offer for recruiting. “We plan to first launch 10 languages on the screener, but will scale up soon,” Adithyan states.
Despite the screener’s industry-agnostic design, Hyring has introduced sector-specific recruitment as an additional feature, including the capability to evaluate candidates interviewing for coding or writing positions. The AI Screener has already been implemented at global companies like Worldline and FP Markets.
Hyring intends to develop a fully automated product that encompasses the entire recruitment process, from sourcing and screening to interviewing and onboarding. He also mentioned that they are seeking to secure funding—they have applied to Y-Combinator for up to USD 1 million by November.
