Regulations To be Set by Bureau of Indian Standards for AI: Report

The aim is to prevent American expertise from supporting China's military advancements.

According to a report, India is getting ready to establish guidelines for regulating artificial intelligence. AI has experienced rapid growth and has presented numerous ethical dilemmas for governments globally.

According to a report by the Mint on August 28, India is developing a set of standards to oversee artificial intelligence (AI) and its use in the country.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is collaborating with the ministries of consumer affairs, information technology, education, and industry stakeholders to draft new regulations for AI and related applications.

Due to AI’s significant growth in recent years, governments worldwide have been confronted with a range of ethical challenges.

There is a rising demand in India for job seekers proficient in machine learning and Python programming.

IT companies in India seek individuals with machine learning and Python expertise for roles in Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI).

Companies like IBM, Coforge, L&T Technology Services, and Happiest Minds are seeking professionals skilled in machine learning, data science, and cloud engineering.

In March, the cabinet sanctioned a national India AI mission with a budget of Rs 10,372 crore for the following five years.

This initiative will, among other things, subsidise private companies seeking to establish artificial intelligence computing capacity and offer seed funding for startups in the sector.
