Google has announced their plans to roll out Made-in-India Pixel 8 smartphones to boost the local manufacturing culture of the country. The tech giant made an announcement by posting on X along with thanking Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting of India. 

Last month, a report indicated that the production of the Pixel 8 model in India will be handled by Foxconn and Dixon Technologies. The report also suggested that India could become a major manufacturing hub for Pixel phones, with initial exports planned for Europe and the US.

Due to limited demand for Pixel phones in India, the company plans to export most of the locally produced devices, taking advantage of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

The company is likely to gain momentum from the GenAI and camera capabilities of the Pixel 8. Moreover, the channel expansion and local manufacturing indicates better pricing of new products.
