Ambuja Cements Ltd shares on 5 August announced that they are planning to invest Rs 1,600 crore to construct a 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) grinding unit in Warisaliganj, Bihar.
This marks the company’s inaugural venture in Bihar, with the project being implemented in three phases. The first phase, with a capacity of 2.4 MTPA and an investment of Rs 1,100 crore, is scheduled for commissioning by December 2025.
The site, located in Mosama village and is well-connected by road and rail. Adequate land provisioning for future expansion at a lower capex is ensured.
The project aims to meet Bihar’s growing infrastructure needs, aligning with Union Budget priorities. Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar highlighted the investment as a testament to the state’s growth potential at the foundation stone-laying ceremony.
Pranav Adani, managing director of agro-oil-gas and director of Adani Enterprises Limited, stated that the investment aligns with both the company’s and the state government’s development ambitions.
Pranav added, “The cement industry is witnessing healthy volumes due to the government’s infrastructure thrust and Ambuja Cements is well-positioned to support sustainable infrastructure development in the country.”
The cement factory has been granted 67.9 acres of land by the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), and the business reports that environmental clearance has been secured for this purpose. By December 2025, the unit is probably going to be operating.
Additionally, Ambuja Cements has been granted 26.6 acres of land by the BIADA for the construction of another cement plant in the Mahbal, Motipur, Muzaffarpur industrial region. According to the firm, the environmental clearance for the same is being processed, and construction on the project is anticipated to start soon.
