Meta AI Now Available in Seven New Languages including Hindi

They were concerned about Meta's use of public Facebook and Instagram posts to train its AI model.

Meta AI is now available in seven new languages, including Hindi and Hindi-Romanized Script. Users can now interact with Meta AI on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook in Hindi, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Meta AI also expands access in 22 countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Cameroon.

Additionally, Meta AI will introduce new features to help users with answers, ideas, and inspiration. This expansion means users can now utilize Meta AI in Hindi for more complex questions like math and coding. Meta AI is also releasing Llama 3.1, the latest version of its open-source large language model, available in 8B, 70B, and 405B versions.

This expansion comes a month after Meta rolled out its AI chatbot in India, the company’s largest market. With this launch, people can now interact with Meta AI across multiple platforms in these new languages, with more language support planned for the future.

This move has enabled Meta AI to compete with rivals OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Microsoft’s Copilot in the AI chatbot race.

.Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company aims for Meta AI to become the most widely used AI assistant by the end of this year. The chatbot is already being used by hundreds of millions of people and is continuously being improved, with plans to expand its availability to more countries.

According to Meta, with 16% of the world’s AI talent, India is set to become an AI innovation hub, as stated in the Eco Survey.

In addition to language support, Meta is introducing new creative tools that allow users to generate AI-created images of themselves in different settings, periods, or styles. For example, users can create these images by typing a prompt like “Imagine me in a retro video game” and taking a selfie photo.

Starting this week, Meta is rolling out the ability for users to create images directly within the feed, stories, comments, and messages across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.

With Meta AI’s new creative editing capabilities, users can easily add or remove objects in an image and make changes. For instance, users can create an image with the prompt “Imagine a cat snorkelling in a goldfish bowl” and then decide to replace the cat with a dog, with the option to make further adjustments.

Meta has also announced the release of Llama 3.1 three months after the release of Llama 3. This new version will be available in three variants, including a larger model with 405 billion parameters and updated versions of existing 8 billion and 70 billion models.

Meta stated that users can access the larger Llama 405B model on Meta AI’s web app and WhatsApp. This model’s improved reasoning capabilities enable Meta AI to understand and answer complex questions, especially those related to math and coding.

Mark Zuckerberg mentioned plans to release more models with capabilities such as longer context windows, multilingual support, and multi-modal capabilities to simultaneously work with different formats like text, code, audio, image, and video.
