Recently, the CEO of Ola, Bhavish Aggarwal, shared his insights on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Indian market in a social media post. He expressed confidence in India’s potential to emerge as a global leader in artificial intelligence, drawing parallels to China’s rise as a worldwide leader in manufacturing.
He emphasised that India has the necessary talent and capabilities but acknowledged that this leadership position would only be achieved sometimes and require deliberate efforts.
Aggarwal highlighted India’s strengths in AI, citing that it boasts the largest number of developers, silicon designers, data, and an expansive IT services industry worldwide.
Moreover, he noted that the India AI Mission has been sanctioned with a substantial outlay, including significant funding to support indigenous AI-based solutions in the Indian startup ecosystem.
According to the latest IDC report, India’s expenditure on AI and Generative AI (GenAI) is forecasted to reach USD 6 billion by 2027. Thus, reflecting a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33.7%.
The CEO of Ola Electric underscored the importance of human-centric mobile AI and emphasised the significance of open industry collaboration and a distinctive approach to hybrid AI to enhance the mobile AI experience for users.
Notably, during an AI session held in Paris, experts stressed the need for responsible innovation in AI alongside its technological advancements.
Shifting the focus, Airtel, a leading telecom provider, recently implemented tariff hikes on existing plans for Airtel SIM users. The revised plans have seen increases of up to Rs 60, affecting data packs priced at Rs 79, Rs 181, and Rs 301.
