GE T&D India announced on Wednesday, 1 May, that it has received an order from the Power Grid Corporation of India to set up a state transmission asset management centre (STAMC) in Odisha.
In its regulatory filing, the company said that the centre will help Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) in operating the grid through real-time monitoring and control. They will help OPTCL in optimising grid operations and integrate renewable energy sources more effectively.
The filing added, “GE T&D India announces that it has secured orders from Power Grid Corporation of India to build a state transmission asset management centre in Odisha for OPTCL.”
The listed establishment for GE Vernova’s electrification division in India is called GE T&D India.
The project would allow for remote operation of substations in four locations around Odisha, employing advanced grid software technology.
It is anticipated that by consolidating data from grid assets, including transmission lines and substations, the STAMC will be able to provide OPTCL with a more thorough situational awareness, enabling them to respond to problems more swiftly and make well-informed judgments.
