Stocks in Focus: Policybazaar, Mahanagar Gas, Paytm and Others

The GIFT Nifty futures were trading in a flattish range before the market’s opening on Thursday. Indices are expected to open on a similar flat note.

Domestic benchmark indices NSE Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex traded volatile during the presentation of the Interim Budget before ending lower on Thursday. Sensex dipped 106.81 points or 0.15% to 71,645.30, while the Nifty 50 closed 28.25 points or 0.13% lower at 21,697.45.

Here are some stocks that are likely to remain in focus on February 2.

One 97 Communications (Paytm): The management of the parent company of Paytm, during an analyst call on Thursday, said that the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) actions were a big speed bump and that work has been started for some operational changes that would be required. Paytm will pause the origination of new loans for a couple of weeks.

Gokaldas Exports: The apparel manufacturer will acquire 100% of the equity share capital of Matrix Design & Industries for Rs 489 crores, out of which Rs 247.5 crores is being paid by way of preferential allotment of shares of Gokaldas Exports through a share swap. 

Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL): The city gas distributor has acquired a 100% stake in the equity share capital of Unison Enviro for a cash consideration of Rs 562.09 crore. After this first-ever strategic acquisition, Unison Enviro will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of MGL.

Panacea Biotech: The United States Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) has classified the facility of the pharma company’s subsidiary Panacea Biotec Pharma in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, as ‘official action indicated’.

PB Fintech (PolicyBazaar): Singapore-based sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings sold its entire 5.42% stake in the parent firm of PolicyBazaar for Rs 2,425 crore through open market transactions. Its wholly-owned subsidiary Claymore Investments (Mauritius) Pte Ltd sold the shares in three tranches at an average price of Rs 992.8 per share.
