Defence Stocks were trading in the green on 25 August after the DAC (Defence Acquisition Council) gave an approval nod for the Rs 7,800 crore worth proposal to enhance the operational capabilities of the armed forces.
The Defence Ministry said all procurements will only be made from indigenous sources.
The DAC has approved the Indian Air Force’s request to buy and install an Electronic Warfare Suite on Mi-17 V5 helicopters that will help the helicopter stay safer. The suite will come from Bharat Electronics.
The government has also given acceptance of the necessity of a ground-based autonomous system for mechanised infantry and armoured regiments, bridge-laying tanks, light machine guns, ruggedised laptops and tablets under Project Shakti and procurement of weapons for MH-60R helicopters.
At 2:30 pm, MTAR Technologies, Bharat Dynamics, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Bharat Electronics, Bharat Heavy Electricals, Hindustan Aeronautics, Zen Technologies, Paras Defence shares were up between 0.3 and 1.9 percent.
