Mr Sundararaman Ramamurthy is appointed as the Managing Director and chief executive officer (CEO) Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) with effect from January 4, 2023, as per media reports.

Ramamurthy will now succeed Ashishkumar Chauhan, former MD and CEO of BSE. After Chauhan’s resignation, a new appointment came.

BSE’s new managing director and the chief executive officer have been appointed after market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), approved the appointment.

At NSE, he worked on several projects and led the National Securities Clearing Corporation, the exchange’s clearing house. His expertise in the capital markets is unrivalled, and his track record at the NSE will now be tested on rival exchanges.

In 2014, Ramamurthy left NSE to join Bank of America (BofA) as Chief Operating Officer. Earlier in his career, his work at IDBI Bank helped Ramamurthy ease into his role at the multinational bank.
