The equity barometers continued to trade in mid-morning trade. However, the Nifty traded below the 18,150 level. Auto shares extended gains for the sixth consecutive session.

In the morning trade, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 423.89 points or 0.7% to 61,170.48. The Nifty50 index gained 129.60 points or 0.72% to 18,141.80.

The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index is at 0.67% while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index gained 0.26%. On the BSE, 1,961 shares hit a high and 1,361 shares fell, 149 shares remain the same.

The Nifty Auto index is up 0.16% to 13,403.10. The index has added 5.57% in six sessions.

Top gainers are Sona BLW Precision Forgings up 2.77%, Tube Investments of India up 1.14%, Samvardhana Motherson International up 1.55%, and Tata Motors up 1.07%. On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra is up 0.36%, Bharat Forge is up 0.47% and Bosch is up 0.11%.

Bajaj Auto hit a high of 1.23%. The total sales of two-wheeler declined 10 per cent to 3,95,238 units in October 2022 compared with 4,39,615 units sold in October last year.

Escorts Kubota slipped 2.49%. The total tractor sales rose 7.2% year on year to 14,492 units sold in the last month of 2022 from 13,514 units sold in the same period of 2021. The Construction Equipment Segment in the last month of  2022 sold 384 machines against 462 machines sold in the same period of  2021.
