An environment clearance (EC) has been received by the Kolkata based Srijan Steel and Power Industries for its Rs 256 crore greenfield project to produce iron ore pellets in Seraikela Kharsawan district of Jharkhand.
Srijan Steel has proposed a greenfield project for producing 0.8 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of iron ore pellet and to set up 1 MTPA iron ore benefication plant in Jharkhand.
The proposal was considered by the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Union Environment Ministry in December 2014 that recommended environment clearance to the project with some conditions.
According to a senior Environment Ministry official, “The Environment Ministry has considered the application based on the recommendations of the EAC and decided to grant EC to the project.”
